Disjointed

My world has become disjointed 
all the questions asked, pointed
like lies told by a friend
or letters you should never send

don't know where I'm headed 
my dignity torn and shredded
my future so unclear to me
is lonely where I'm meant to be

I need this time alone 
work through feelings unknown
and what they mean
or insights I may gleam 

scared of what I may find 
my heart has never been kind
always tearing at my soul 
over time has taken its toll 

left me broken and jaded
distant and faded
one day I will return
with love left to burn

eventually I'll find her and say
my heart is yours today
how much I love and care 
and she won't wish I didn't share
