A tragic story of two orphans

The story begins with an 8 year old boy called Kevin who was part of a strict but loving family of four including, of course, Kevin. His parents whom he loved dearly were called Susan and Adam. They had - much to Kevin's dislike - a six year old daughter called Lilly. Lilly loved her brother and knew deep down Kevin loved her as well. Then on the 5th January 2005 the family decided to go out for a drive and watch the sunset, little did they know that this drive would turn into a blood bath of misery.
The family were so happy singing away merrily to the radio, then suddenly another car swerved and crashed into them, then the car started to spin. The children thought it would never stop. Eventually it stopped. Kevin heard his sister crying and crawled his way over to her to see if she was OK. Little Lilly wasn't crying because she was hurt but because both their parents were badly injured. Kevin tried his best to help them until the emergency services came and cut them out, but despite both Kevin's and the ambulance crew's best attempts to keep the parents alive they could not and Kevin and Lilly parents were both pronounced dead aged 38 and 45.
Lilly and Kevin were both rushed to hospital with minor injuries later that day, however the children had no more relatives to speak of so the police and social services decided that it would be in the children's best interests to go into care. Kevin over heard them talking and quickly packed his and Lilly's stuff, grabbed Lilly and ran. He didn't know were he was going to go however he decided that it was better if they didn't go into care.
A few nights after the crash Lilly plucked up the courage to ask her brother why they couldn't go with the social workers into care. Kevin replied nastily saying " because we can't and besides I don't wanna live with strangers!" Lilly began to cry "but we've got nowhere to go and I'm hungry and I want mummy!" Lilly whaled."fine you go see if I care but don't come crying back!" yelled Kevin.
The next day the children came across two men who offered them a place in their home. Kevin knew that he shouldn't talk to strangers however he didn't really have a choice. The two men took the children back and said "you can live here as long as you like free of charge, where are your parents I'm sure the're worried sick!" Said the man with what seemed fake sympathy. Kevin told the men everything about the crash and that they were running away from care. The two men seemed very pleased and offered the children more and more sweets and hot chocolate. Kevin knew that this was wrong but where else could they go they had no one!
A year passed by and Kevin was getting more and more mean each day. Each day Kevin would go off with the two men around 6 ish am and return home with them by 8 ish pm. Sometimes Kevin would even come back with bruises and bloody fists. Lilly knew something wasn't right, and knew that what ever was happening to Kevin was both wrong and causing him to lash out and become mean towards her. One day Lilly had, had enough so she followed Kevin and the two men, she saw that the two men were beating Kevin and giving him money for something. Lilly tried to hide herself but they saw her and wanted her. Kevin instantly ran over to her pushing the men out of the way. Lilly ran but one of the men grabbed her, Kevin went mad crying " THAT'S MY SISTER LEAVE HER ALONE!" The men let her go but as he did pushed her into the road, Kevin ran as fast as he could to get to her. Then ***BOOM*** a car came ***CRASH*** Lilly opened her eyes and looked next to her to find that Kevin was covered in blood she began to cry.
Weeks went by and no one at the hospital was telling Lilly anything, then one day Kevin spoke to her saying "I'm so sorry this all my fault I've let you down I just wanted to keep you safe and fed!" he began to cry Lilly wiped his tears away and tried not to cry herself and said " No you haven't you've been the best brother ever and mum and dad would be proud!" Kevin looked at Lilly and then said " I love you don't you ever forget that OK!" Lilly began to cry I know you do you always have and when you get better we can live together in the orphanage OK!" Kevin went quiet "why didn't we go into care anyway?" asked Lilly "Because I was scared they'd split us up I'm sorry" Lilly looked at him and said "it's OK I understand" Kevin began to cry "Whats wrong are you hurting again?" asked Lilly "no but it's just I won't be able to be with you anymore and I'm so sorry" "of course you will they won't split us up we're family!" Lilly laughed. "No I mean I'm leaving you" "where are you going?" asked Lilly "To be with our parents little one!" CRYING " No don't leave me I need you!" SILENCE "KEVIN!!!"
Kevin Monroe died on the 16th January 2006 a few days and one year after the crash he was only 9.
