?It wasn't as if anyone got hurt!? Conrad yelled glancing at Hayley quickly with anger sparked in his eyes.
?What are you talking about?! Someone did get hurt! Me!? She brushed a strand of her hair out of her eyes. ?I can't believe you! Those things you said... How could you...?? Her voice settled into a hushed whisper.
Conrad glanced at her, his expression softening, but he focused on the road as snow raged on if front of the windshield. ?Hayley, you know that letter wasn't meant to be read...?
?Is that supposed to make me feel better?? She clenched her hand, holding said letter as tears collected along the rim of her normally warm eyes. He sighed and pulled over. He cupped his hands around her round race. He brushed the tears away.
?Hayley... Hayl's, don't cry, it makes you look washed out.?
She glared up at him. But otherwise she didn't dare say a word.
He turned the key in the ignition of the silver Sedan and turned the car off. ?Come on, Hayl's, cheer up. You know that other girl means nothing to me.?
?Why'd you write this then? You said the same thing in this letter to her...? She turned her face to him. He was struck at awe for a split second. Mesmerized by his wife's fierce brown eyes and full lips.
?Don't look at me like that.? She shied away from his lustful expression. ?I can never be taken serious by you, Conrad...? she muttered under her breath.
?I don't know why I wrote it! I was being stupid. I wasn't appreciating you. Really Hayley, I love you.?
?I can't believe you!? She shrieked, her voice cracking and she covered her face, trying to retreat.
?Really Hayley. Sometimes I wonder if you learn anything.?
?Don't turn this onto me. I...-I showed you all of my love. I-I put up with your bullshit. I let you have your way for everything! Whether it was making love or just what we were having for dinner. Yet you always found a reason to be upset with me! Am I never enough for you?! I'm just not good enough, to the point that you have to start seeing her,? Hayley gestured towards the letter and turned her back to her ebony-haired spouse.
He placed a hand on her cold bare shoulder. ?Is this just a matter of jealously, Hayley? Really? You don't have to be jealous of my 'mistress'. There's a reason you're my wife and she's just who she is.?
Hayley abruptly turned around to face him and glared coldly into his eyes. ?How dare yo-?
?Really? Am I correct??
Her hand met contact with his cheek curtly. She glared and felt the tears in her eyes spill over. ?I cannot believe you Conrad Ward. You are not the man I fell in love with. The things I read in that letter and now these things I'm hearing now. If I wasn't here at this moment I wouldn't believe it!? she grasped for the handle to the door and yanked the Sedan door.
?Hayley! Hayley, you take that back.? He grabbed at her slim wrist just as she was about to stomp away from the Sedan into the snow. His arm jerked her fragile form back into the car, causing her temple to make contact with the gear shift. Ultimately knocking her out. ?Shit...? Conrad turned the ignition of the Sedan and shifted the car into drive. Looking around swiftly, hoping no one saw the previous event, he sped off. He fishtailed once or twice but just continued. Hoping no one called the police and yanked the letter from her grubby fingers and stuffed it into his pocket then reached for his cell phone. He punched in his mistress' number. ?Hey, uh, babe. Short notice but I'm not going to be able to come over tonight... Yeah problem with the Mrs. Yeah she found out. Anyway, she's completely knocked out and I gotta take her home. It'll be another hour before I'm in town 'cause we're coming back from her mom's. Anyway... Yeah, love you too. Bye.? He slammed his phone close and glanced at Hayley. She was beginning to stir.
?'Rad...- Conrad. What's going.? She simply stopped and limply set her head back against the middle console. ?Why?? She said obviously remembering the past occurrences. Shaking her head more sternly as if to make the reality not true. ?We're going home?? she asked more than stated.
?Yeah, babe.? Reaching out for her hand and turning to look for it when he couldn't grasp it. He stared at Hayley. Taking in her face. Her long eyelashes, full lips, powerfully warm brown eyes, and her crown of brown hair, that was frizzy from the snow and moisture. He noted that her eyes grew and she let out a shriek. ?Conrad, look!?
Quickly, turning his attention to the road and saw a pick up truck directly in front of them and turned abruptly to keep from colliding with but the car fishtailed once again and ended up crashing into a van.
The only thing Hayley could make out for a split second was a star of shattered glass. After that she couldn't see. Just feel and hear. Hear the sound of metal splitting and smashing. Glass imploding on itself and crashing. The shards dancing gingerly across her cheek bones and shoulders. The feel of the Sedan wrapping it's way around her body and when it had no more room to mold, it began crushing her. She could gently hear the sound of Conrad and her's bones. Only faintly because what she mostly heard was her own screams and cries in agony. Conrad was long gone. Either unconscious or... She couldn't bear it. She felt the pain and the feeling of being shredded apart. Pain. The unforgettable feeling of being broken, mentally and physically. Her bones snapping and her flesh tearing. She didn't know what was worst. The fact that she couldn't move and look around, the pain, or that she couldn't be comforted by her husband. She could feel the tears streaming down her face and the warm sticky liquid of blood but soon the crushing ended and she began to feel high. Like the feeling she got when she experimented with her friends in high school. Like she was somehow out of body. Tingling in her fingertips and every surface of skin that was torn, broken, and exposed. She felt numb... And excruciatingly exhausted. ?It won't to bad to doze off.? She thought feeling slightly nauseous and out of it. ?I won't feel anything and when I wake up I might be with Conrad...? She tried her best to relax. It wasn't that hard because the sounds around her of beeping and the rush of people was beginning to fade, like it was getting farther away, and the pain was dull now. It was it there but she imagined that the blood loss was making her feel so good. She smiled to her best ability and grasped for anything that felt like Conrad's calloused hands.
