"Call me best friend!" You said to him. "I will best friend!" Cody said to you. You and him had been best friends ever since the 5th grade, and you guys were Seniors this year. You loved him, and I mean in a boyfriend way. And he felt the same about you but you guys wouldn't tell each other. The next night you guys go to a party. There is sweet slow dancing, fun fast dancing, and just complete fun. A nerdy boy was about to ask you to dance, so you grab Cody first. "Cody, of I'll dance with you!" You said. "Great," he said back. Your dancing to the song "I Need You" by Faith Hill and Tim Mcgraw. You start getting closer and closer, and you feel so comfortable, and you know he does too.
The way your head laid on Cody's shoulder, and the way his arms wrapped around you. It felt RIGHT. You begin to feel the need to tell him your true feelings. "Co-" you began to say."I-" he said at the same time. "You go first, Cody." you tell him, to see if he was going to say the same thing. "I need you." Cody says. "I need you and I love you. you are my best friend and always will be, but we're more than that. We have a love like no other, babe. And you know that." "Yes I do." you say stunned. "I love you too, more than life itself. We could be a great couple, Cody, you know that." "Baby, lets go somewhere okay?" Cody asks you.
"Of course." You say happily, knowing that you guys would be together forever. He grabs your hand and you guys take off running faster and faster through the woods. You end up in a meadow that you'd never seen before. "Honey, I love you. But, your not going to be happy to hear this." Cody says, unusually sad.
"Go ahead tell me babe, I love you too and if I really do I will understand." you reply back to him, words of complete truth. "I am sick. Really sick. I have leukemia, and we didn't catch it fast enough. The doctor gives me 6 months tops, but not even for sure.
But until the time comes, I will love you and take care of you like no one else can." "But, but, isn't there something the doctors can do about it? Cody you can't leave me that soon I can't live without you! Oh Cody please no!" you say, sobbing. "We're too late, they could do something but that would mean being in the hospital for the remainder of the time I will get to live, and that would mean LESS TIME WITH YOU. And I can't do that." Cody explains to you.
Your crying and screaming, and you cannot stop. "Okay Cody, but we are spending every single minute together until anything happens." you say. "Of course hun, I will not go a minute without you." Cody and yourself fall asleep under the stars, and sleep until the next morning. You all spend 4 1/2 months together. Every minute like he promised. Cody is getting weaker and weaker, but there's nothing you can do about it. "Baby, do you ever think about our future, TOGETHER?" Cody asks you seriously.
"Yes I do. I want to be with you forever, get married, and have 3 beautiful girls named Marie, Addison, and Samantha." you reply, seriously also. "Let's do that then. Since it is getting late, you go home and get a good night sleep, and we'll start planning tomorrow. Were ready to go to college so we'll start there. And remember I love you more than life itself." Cody says, very happy about living a life together. "Okay! Great Cody, I'm so excited!
Call me as soon as you get up. I love you more than life itself too." You reply, you don't know what you'd do without him. You go home and go to sleep. You dream about the wonderful life with Cody that you will have. You wake up at 10, and Cody hasn't called. You call his house and his Mom picks up, "Hello."
"Hey, can I speak to Cody?" You ask her, very worried. "Of course my sweetheart! Hold on let me go get him he's asleep." You become a little less tense, but still something was in the pit of your stomach that you couldn't understand. "OH MY GOD! Oh no Cody, oh no baby! Do you hear me? CODY! OH CODY!" Cody's mother screams. "Oh my gosh!!!" your thinking. Something happened
You rush over there, and ambulance is there. They have a gourney. Cody is on it. His mother is standing there mouth wide open crying her eyes out. "He loved you sweetie, he told me last night he was going to propose today.
Go up to his room I want to show you something." You go up to his room and there sat one million papers. You read them. At the top they said, "Ways to Propose" on them. He had been trying to come up with something romantic.
Then, under all of them sat the most beautiful ring you had ever seen. You walk outside with the ring in your hand. You look up and say, "Yes Cody, I will marry you. And be with you FOREVER." You put the ring on your finger, and until the day you lay in your coffin it NEVER LEAVES YOUR HAND.
